Got some-something on my mind. There's this dude in my neighborhood. Our daughters are friends. He has been deployed over seas in combat for a while.
Good news, he has gotten come home and be with his wife and daughter. Bad news, he is recovering from a 30+ foot fall while repelling from a helicopter and the line got cut.
That is all the detail I have, in all of its inaccuracy. But that is enough detail for me. So how do show someone that you appreciate them? How do you cut through what is socially acceptable, what is common, what is expected ... and show respect and honor and thanks to someone?
It has been about 12 years, since I decided to stop wandering around this word without my purpose and actually found my God. And in that time, I have been changed into someone who appreciates and accepts that the gift of suffering and sacrifice to guard and secure my life ... is a precious gift. And after this life, I will get the chance to tell that to Christ face to face. But now, in this life ... I want to tell the man ... my neighbor down the road.
I believe in the value of a firm sincere handshake ... but this merits more.
The ideas are fairly incomplete beyond this ... but worth sharing none-the-less.
